Football Manager 2009 este un nou joc din seria FM, lansat de Sega si Sports Interactive pentru PC si PSP (varianta PSP este denumita Football Manager Handheld 2009). Cea mai importantă noutate pe care o aduce Football Manager 2009 este engine-ul 3D prin care managerii virtuali îşi pot urmări elevii la treabă. Tot la capitolul vizualizare a meciurilor mai trebuie amintit modul TV View, în care meciul poate fi urmărit ca la televizor. Alte noutăţi aduse de Football Manager 2009: sfaturi ale antrenorilor secunzi înaintea şi în timpul meciurilor conferinţe de presă înainte şi după meci un sistem refăcut de transferuri (inclusiv zvonuri legate de transferuri) şedinţe cu patronatul clubului noi indicaţii pentru antrenamente (Preferred Moves) gestionarea finanţelor clubului este acum mai aproape de realitate suport pentru monitoarele wide
